You don’t have to deal with discrimination from your employer

Employees have the right to work without being discriminated against. While many people know that this protection is enforced during an employment period, some people might not realize that it also extends to the hiring period.

Employers aren’t allowed to discriminate against people who apply for positions. Protected statuses include disability, pregnancy, race, gender, religion and age. Anyone who thinks that they have been discriminated against during the hiring process should find out the options they have for taking action.

During employment, employees are also protected from discrimination. This means that employers can’t bypass an employee for more desirable shifts, promotions, work perks and raises based on a protected status. Employees who are subjected to this type of discrimination can also take legal action.
